The handoff: verify the installer’s film with the maker

The matched installer sources and installs the film for your job. Start with that shop: ask for the maker brand and series, roll or batch code, planned coverage and scope, installation record, registration status, and the right contact for material, warranty, and job questions. Then copy the code from the installer-supplied roll or core and confirm it directly with XPEL, 3M, Llumar, SunTek, or STEK. A familiar-looking string is only a transcription check until the manufacturer confirms it.

What a maker-specific batch code looks like

The five makers do not use one universal code. These are clearly labeled illustrative shapes, not authenticity validators: XPEL — XUP-YYYY-MM-A (or XUF-YYYY-MM-A for an Ultimate Fusion line); 3M — 3M-2080-YYYY-MM-A; Llumar — Llumar-YYYY-MM-A; SunTek — SunTek-YYYY-MM-A; STEK — STK-DYNO-YYYY-MM-A. The prefix identifies the maker or line, while the remaining lot/date portion varies by label. Copy the code exactly as printed, including its prefix, hyphens, letters, and numbers; the live maker record still decides whether it is recognized.

Where to find the code on the installer’s material

Ask the matched installer to show you the roll header or roll core and photograph the code before the material is unwrapped or cut. Check the protective wrap and any ink-jet or per-SKU decal for the same lot, then compare the carton, installation record, and any manufacturer registration or warranty record. A door-jamb sticker or shop handoff label may carry a matching reference. These artifacts are evidence to compare, not interchangeable substitutes: a missing, covered, or altered label is a reason to pause the cut and resolve the record with the installer and maker first.

XPEL — XPEL E-Warranty

For installer-supplied XPEL film, open XPEL’s E-Warranty surface and enter the exact code copied from the roll. XPEL’s lot is printed on the protective wrap and roll core; the illustrative shape is XUP-YYYY-MM-A for Ultimate Plus or XUF-YYYY-MM-A for Ultimate Fusion. Compare the returned digital warranty record with the roll code and installer documentation, including the vehicle details when shown. Use the XPEL surface for XPEL film only: a result from another maker’s portal is not XPEL confirmation.

3M — 3M Warranty Portal and installer registration

For installer-supplied 3M film, use the 3M Warranty Portal rather than XPEL E-Warranty. 3M prints the batch on the roll wrap and a per-SKU decal; the illustrative shape is 3M-2080-YYYY-MM-A. The certified installer may need to complete the registration for the installed vehicle, so ask the shop to show you the resulting warranty record or provide a reprint. Compare its batch, certified-shop details, and vehicle information with the roll before the film is cut or the job is closed.

Llumar — Eastman serial verification

For installer-supplied Llumar film, use the Eastman serial verification surface for the Llumar code printed on the roll. The illustrative shape is Llumar-YYYY-MM-A; check the wrap, roll core, and installer paperwork for the same lot. Confirm that the returned record identifies Llumar and matches the exact code and vehicle details. A code that looks plausible but is not recognized on the Llumar flow is not verified; ask the installer to resolve it before relying on any applicable warranty record.

SunTek — Eastman serial verification

For installer-supplied SunTek film, use the Eastman serial verification surface for the SunTek code printed on the roll. The illustrative shape is SunTek-YYYY-MM-A; check the wrap, roll core, and installer paperwork for the same lot. Confirm that the returned record identifies SunTek and matches the exact code and vehicle details. Do not treat a Llumar result as a SunTek result: the brand and lot must agree on the correct manufacturer surface before the install proceeds.

STEK — roll-core lot portal + DYNOlabel

For installer-supplied STEK film, use the STEK roll-core lot portal and the DYNOlabel QR badge with the code printed on the roll core. The illustrative shape is STK-DYNO-YYYY-MM-A. The QR badge supports the record but does not replace the printed batch, so compare the core, QR result, installer paperwork, and vehicle details. A missing badge or a code the STEK surface cannot recognize is a stop-and-confirm issue for the installer and maker before cutting.

Valid vs invalid / unrecognized: the practical side-by-side

Valid means the exact printed code is copied without a typo; its maker prefix matches the brand on the roll; the roll core or header, wrap, paperwork, and installer record agree; and the correct manufacturer surface returns the same lot or a record tied to the vehicle. Invalid or unrecognized means a typo, missing or altered label, unexpected prefix, roll-to-paperwork mismatch, wrong-brand lookup, or a portal result that cannot find the lot. A plausible-looking code is not a pass: the maker’s confirmation is authoritative. Save photos of the labels and verification result, and pause before cutting if any artifact disagrees.

The ten-minute handoff check

Before the installer cuts the film, read the roll code aloud against the wrap, paperwork, and installer record; open the correct manufacturer surface; confirm the result and any applicable warranty details; and keep the label photos and portal confirmation with the vehicle records. XPEL uses E-Warranty, 3M uses its Warranty Portal through the certified installer, Llumar and SunTek use their Eastman serial surfaces, and STEK uses the roll-core lot portal plus DYNOlabel. This is a direct owner-to-maker verification step: the installer owns the material and job handoff, the manufacturer owns its verification record, and Veilmotive’s role is the match and referral.
